I build things that scale — from high-throughput Rails APIs to React frontends that don't get in the way. Based in Berlin. Currently at Smartly.io.

A little about me

I build web software — Rails on the backend, React on the front. Twelve years in, across healthcare, education, e-commerce, and ad tech. Currently at Smartly.io in Berlin, where I work on the platform that moves billions in advertising spend.

I care about systems that hold together under pressure, code the next engineer can read, and teams that can actually ship. I studied at Rhine-Waal University and never really left Germany — Berlin suits me.

Aviation & Flying

I've been fascinated by aviation since I was a kid. These days I'm turning that into something real — training for my PPL at Schönhagen (EDAZ), flying a Robin HR 200, and passing exams along the way. The methodical, checklist-driven discipline of flying has genuinely made me more precise as an engineer.

Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer

Smartly.io Berlin, Germany

Smartly is an ad automation platform used by some of the world's largest brands to manage billions in ad spend. My day-to-day spans high-throughput Rails services (think: a lot of data moving fast), React-based campaign UIs, background job infrastructure with Sidekiq, and Kubernetes-managed deployments. I've been here since 2019 — long enough to have opinions about most corners of the codebase.

Earlier Career — 2019

Full-Stack Developer

Various & Freelance Remote / International

Before Smartly, I worked as a full-stack developer across several companies and freelance engagements in Germany and remotely — building everything from clinic management systems to tutoring platforms and e-commerce backends. These roles gave me wide exposure to product ownership, client work, and the kind of pragmatic decision-making that startups run on.

Computer Science & Engineering

Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences Kleve, Germany

Studied Computer Science and Engineering, deepening foundations in software architecture, algorithms, and systems while building a European professional network.

// looking for your next hire?

Senior engineer, available.

I'm open to senior full-stack and Rails engineering roles at product companies. Ideally Berlin-based or remote-friendly — working on something with real complexity, not another CRUD app.

// building something new?

Zero to production.

If you have an idea and need a technical co-founder or early engineering partner — someone who can make architecture decisions and actually ship — let's talk.

// existing product that needs work?

I enjoy fixing hard things.

Scaling issues, messy codebases, infrastructure held together with tape — I've seen it and I know how to dig out. Available for consulting and contract engagements.

// just want to talk tech?

Inbox open, no pitch needed.

Architecture decisions, career questions, side project ideas — happy to think through it with you. No agenda required.

// however you found this — the next step is the same

04. What's next?

Let's build something great.

I'm interested in teams building complex, high-scale products — the kind where architecture decisions actually matter and there's real engineering craft involved. If that sounds like your team, I'd genuinely like to hear from you.
